I got caught, got beat up by the guards (because I still had nothing), and they threw me in jail. Teleported to a town and tried to rob a house. I saved and then saw how far I could make it before dying. Here's a story: Did everything I could on the beginning isle, then got cocky, got robbed, and lost literally everything I had. Sort of like a less simulated Mount & Blade, but based around only a single person: You. The quest log is helpful to me in gauging when I should tackle which adventures - when I should buy a resurrection deal (among other blessings) - and knowing the reward ahead of time lets me create my own curated story. I just didn't realize I was in that great of stakes. I was shocked when my first character died - but it felt natural in the confines of what was actually going on at the time. ![]() The writing is evocative and the lands feel deep with content. This is great! Bought it last night and played until two in the morning. Overall I would give the game a 8/10 it really scratched the rpg itch I was looking for, hoping a sequel will add more ways to progress through consequences without instant ends. I think my biggest complaint would be that to really do an Ironman run, you need to really know the game, and that is a shame because by the time you reach that point you've spoiled so much of it for yourself the fun is already over. It's a consequence that leads to nowhere but frustration, and I dont think thats true good game design. ![]() I go into a temple and instantly die because the game rolled a 2, I do a deep sigh and I guess its time to f9 reload or actually I guess ill just quit. I went into a temple and got a curse or plague? I think Ah man that was awesome, I should have been more careful, and roleplay out how my character would react to it and think about I go about trying to find a cure, it's a consequence that leads to more roleplay and more fun. I think this was supposed to be countered with the resurrection stones but to be honest you lose so much getting sent back and losing all your stuff that I imagine most players just resort to save scumming like I did and like the reviews I looked at talked about unless they're doing ironman where it's not really an option. I love the dialogue, the variety of quests and freedom to go where you want but I do think the game could do with less instant death as opposed to more restrictive consequences. I took a gander at the game because of this post and was really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
